WHAT IS MY LABEL?

Role playing on stereotypes

2 hours
an approach on stereotypes and discrimination, respect diversity, developing capacities on expression and communication
Α4 papers ,stickers or duck tape, pen and whistle (optional)

The participants form two lines, one across the other. The trainers put a different label on each of the participant’s back (refugee, single mother, junkie, etc). Each participant looks only at the one opposite him. The first row turns so the other can see the labels. The participant that sees the label has one minute to describe their feelings towards the person wearing it but without revealing what it is.

Then, the other row turns and the procedure is repeated. The pairs keep changing until everyone has spoken to everyone. In the end all participants sit in a circle and describe how they feel listening to everyone’s reaction. The labels are revealed and the session ends with a discussion.
